I am Yuen Wa, a spatial design student from Hong Kong. For me, spatial design works as a mirror to reflect the guest's lifestyle, customs, and tastes. It is related to the usual space and spatial arrangement in our daily locations, whether school, home, or office. In the future, to be a spatial designer, an ambition stuck in my mind is to popularize spatial design among both the wealthy and the poor so that living in beauty and possessing a convenient life is not a privilege. I believe spatial design assists people in increasing living standards and solving the problem of space while fulfilling different functions.

Mixed-reality Area

Existence in the Virtual: Redefining the Real
It is a project to explore and redefine the boundaries of existence by creating a center that facilitates the transition between physical and virtual realities. This project aims to provide a space where memories and identities are preserved digitally, allowing individuals to continue their legacy in a meticulously crafted virtual environment. The Mixed-reality Centre will provide an individual standing on an immersive platform, engaging with advanced technology that bridges physical and digital realms.

Recption

The Centre features a design that emphasizes a layered, deconstructionist aesthetic with inverted forms, creating a futuristic ambiance. The cascading, tiered walls and ceiling elements provide a sense of depth, while the linear lighting accentuates the geometric contours, drawing attention to the sharp lines and structured symmetry. This design combines visual depth with minimalistic.

The journey begins at the Reception for identification and orientation, followed by the Changing Room for equipping virtual experience gear. The Preparation Area serves as an instructional space, guiding users through the process. The In-Between Zone helps users transition back to reality by adjusting their senses, while the Mixed Reality Area immerses them in digital interactions.

Virtual World:Memories of Life

The Virtual World is designed to be a unique reflection of each individual’s memories, creating a distinct experience tailored specifically for them. In this project, I’ve chosen to honor my late grandmother as the focal point, crafting a virtual area infused with elements from Hong Kong spanning the 1960s to the 2000s.

Structure of Virtual World

This space consists of nine interconnected “boxes” arranged randomly to form a passageway. Each face of these boxes displays scenes that are deeply familiar to the uploaded individual, surrounding them with their personal recollections.

Virtual Beings in Motion

In this virtual environment, virtual Beings move beyond traditional limitations, interacting with the space in unconventional ways—such as perching on the side of a bus or navigating vertical surfaces. Their freedom to traverse and engage with the environment highlights the flexibility of digital existence.
