Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

In my Spatial Design journey, I've learned that every space holds a narrative that can connect people on a deeper level. I aim to create environments that transcend function, stirring emotion, challenging perceptions, and fostering a profound bond with surroundings. My work seeks timeless design, telling stories through form, materiality, and atmosphere.

"Hybrid Haven" is a speculative project where biotechnology merges with architecture. It imagines a future where genetically modified hybrid humans inhabit specialized spaces tailored for their health needs, like a Vitamin D therapy centre, blending themes of well-being, adaptability, and futuristic living.

Hybrid Haven

This project envisions a future where Arctic ice melt releases the hypothetical Pandora Yedoma virus, posing a significant health threat. Scientists respond by creating hybrid humans with bat DNA for enhanced viral immunity. However, these hybrids inherit bats' sensitivity to sunlight, confining them indoors. To address this, a specialized Vitamin D Therapy Center is introduced, featuring aerosol showers and circadian lighting to support the hybrids’ Vitamin D needs and well-being. The project explores a futuristic design solution that balances health, adaptation, and innovative biotechnology in response to climate-induced challenges.

Exterior of the Vitamin D Therapy Centre

The Vitamin D Therapy Centre, designed with a dome-like structure and a gracefully curved roof to create an inviting, safe space. Research shows that people are instinctively drawn to curves, as they evoke comfort and security—essential qualities for hybrids adapting to a new way of life. This unique architecture harmonizes with nature while serving the specific needs of hybrid humans, who require controlled sunlight exposure for their health. By integrating organic forms into the design, the centre fosters a sense of belonging, aligning the architecture with the hybrids’ journey of adaptation and well-being

Aerosol Shower Domes

Aerosol Shower Dome, designed as a semi-enclosed, circular space where individuals can comfortably sit and receive Vitamin D therapy. The design creates a cocoon-like atmosphere that promotes relaxation and privacy. Each dome gently disperses Vitamin D aerosol in a controlled 10–20-minute session, ensuring hybrids receive essential Vitamin D therapy without harmful UV exposure. This innovative approach to health-focused design supports both physical well-being and mental balance, addressing unique health needs in a calming, nurturing space.

Self Check-in Kiosks

The self-check-in kiosks at the Vitamin D Therapy Centre offer a seamless, high-tech solution for quick, efficient access to treatments. Designed with intuitive touchscreens, these kiosks allow visitors to register, select therapy options, and confirm appointments within seconds, reducing wait times and enhancing the overall experience. For hybrid humans adapting to new routines, this streamlined check-in process provides ease and autonomy, allowing them to focus on their health journey without unnecessary delays. The kiosks embody the center’s commitment to innovative technology, ensuring that each visitor feels empowered and supported in a user-friendly, accessible environment.

Pipes of the Vitamin D Shower Dome

The pipes of the Vitamin D Shower Dome serve a dual purpose: along with delivering a fine mist infused with Vitamin D, they also act as sophisticated scanners. Upon entry, the system scans each individual’s current Vitamin D levels, calculating a personalized dosage to meet their unique requirements. This high-tech integration ensures precise, safe therapy for each user, avoiding overexposure while promoting optimal health benefits. By combining nutrient delivery and advanced scanning, the dome offers a tailored experience, allowing hybrids to safely maintain necessary Vitamin D levels in a comfortable and supportive environment

Changing Partitions

The spacious, semi-private changing partitions allow guests to comfortably prepare for their sessions in a calm, secure environment. With clean, minimalist design and high-quality materials, these areas reflect the centre's commitment to both functionality and comfort, creating a seamless experience that respects the needs of hybrid humans as they adapt to specialized health routines.
