Algaescape

Contemporary cities are characterised by high density, substantial energy use, and significant carbon emissions, often hidden within the built environment. The project investigates the potential of algae as both a biological agent and a spatial material, capable of absorbing CO₂ through photosynthesis, producing oxygen, and generating biomass that can be harvested for energy or reuse. Through their performative and adaptive qualities, these systems reimagine architecture as an interface between the city and the atmosphere, transforming pollution into a visible and productive phenomenon.
