Creating climate action leaders of the future

Professor Rebekah Brown
Professor Rebekah Brown is Monash’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research. She will lead the University’s delegation at COP28 with a focus on strengthening international cooperation and collaboration among governments, industry, communities and NGOs and universities to tackle climate change.

Professor Steven Chown
Professor Steven Chown is the Director of Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF) and he’ll be advocating for the significance of our oceans and the Antarctic region in tackling the climate crisis.

Professor Jacek Jasieniak
Professor Jacek Jasieniak is Monash’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research Infrastructure. He’ll be leading the discussion on how electricity decarbonisation can help us to achieve a ‘just’ energy transition.
Monash Alumna Jade Hameister
Jade Hameister is an Environmental Advocate, Explorer and Monash alumnus. Jade is passionate about youth participation in climate action at a global level.
Trang Nguyen
Trang Nguyen is Climateworks Centre’s South East Asia Lead. Her hope for COP28 is for more ambitious climate targets, accelerated climate financing and increasing momentum on just transition with a special focus on SouthEast Asia.
Monash Student Bachelor of Science, Brigitta Gunawan
Brigitta Gunawan is a National Geographic Young Explorer and winner of the Ocean Awards Young Initiative, and an EE 30 Under 30. She is on a fully-funded scholarship at Monash University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science majoring in Ecology and Conservation Biology, with a minor in Earth Science. Brigitta is the founder of 30x30 Indonesia – a campaign supporting the global goal of protecting 30% of the ocean by 2030.
