Global Encounters & First Nations Peoples
Global Encounters & First Nations Peoples
Global Encounters & First Nations Peoples: 1000 Years of Australian History explores encounters between Australia’s Indigenous peoples and voyagers from the sea over the period of a millennium.
The project will innovatively reconstruct Australia’s role in global exploration, creating a new transdisciplinary intellectual school with the potential to recast Australia’s history, national identity, and place in the world, impacting ongoing debates over Australia’s national identity and the urgent need for reconciliation with our First Peoples.

About the project
Research will be conducted across South Africa, UK, the Netherlands and other European countries, as well as Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
