Our laboratory explores how T cell mediated immune responses contribute to the onset or perpetuation of human disorders (e.g. autoimmunity, allergy) and transplant rejection. A major focus is examining how virus-specific T cells cross-react toward either self or non-self human leukocyte antigen (HLA)/peptide complexes and how this mechanism induces adverse immune responses.
We're part of the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and a member of the Infection & Immunity Program and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

We use a multidisciplinary approach for (i) characterisation of T cells that drive susceptibility to human disorders (e.g. transplant rejection, drug hypersensitivity and autoimmunity) via inappropriate immune responses or (ii) identification of T cell epitopes for immunotherapeutic development (e.g. cancer). These approaches include cellular immunology (T cell lines/clones, combinatorial peptide libraries, flow cytometry), proteomics (mass spectrometry), CRISPR/Cas 9 gene editing, next generation sequencing (DNA-seq, RNA-seq), molecular biology and structural biology (crystallography).
