Low-Carbon Metallurgy Workshop at Monash

Advancing Low-Carbon Metallurgy — Workshop Highlights

We welcomed a distinguished delegation from the School of Metallurgy at Northeastern University — one of the world’s leading institutions in metallurgical engineering — including the Dean. The visit was hosted by our ARC hub Vice Director, A/Prof Shibo Kuang.

As part of the visit, we proudly convened a dynamic Low-Carbon Metallurgy Workshop at Monash University, bringing together researchers committed to accelerating decarbonisation across the metals sector. The workshop featured insightful presentations, in-depth technical discussions, and forward-looking strategies focused on reducing emissions from ironmaking and steelmaking, while advancing process innovation across the entire metallurgical value chain.

The program continued with strategic meetings between the visiting delegation, ARC Hub Director Prof Sankar Bhattacharyya, and A/Prof Kuang, strengthening dialogue around future collaboration in low-carbon technologies and research partnerships.

We extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, participants, and organisers whose contributions made this workshop a meaningful step toward a cleaner, more sustainable future for metallurgy. We look forward to continuing these conversations and building partnerships that drive real-world impact.
