PTL Welcomes Prof. Johannes Schenk and Bernhard Adami from TU Leoben
We were honoured to host Prof. Johannes Schenk and his PhD student, Bernhard Adami, from the Technical University of Leoben, Austria. Prof. Schenk is internationally recognised for his longstanding contributions to ferrous metallurgy, particularly the development of low-carbon ironmaking technologies such as fluidised-bed direct reduction and hydrogen plasma reduction.
During the visit, Associate Professor Shibo Kuang presented recent advances in low-carbon metallurgy at the Process Technology Laboratory (PTL) at Monash University. The exchange provided an opportunity to share research progress and perspectives on reducing carbon emissions in iron and steel production.
Productive discussions focused on fluidisation and hydrogen plasma for ironmaking, covering fundamental challenges and technological applications. We also explored opportunities for future collaboration, with a shared interest in advancing low-carbon ironmaking.
