Runze Yang receives Best Presentation Award at the SPDC Annual Workshop 2026
We are delighted to announce that our PhD student, Runze Yang, has received the Best Presentation Award at the SPDC Annual Workshop 2026 for his presentation titled "Development of AI-based Surrogate Model for Smart Process Control."
Runze's presentation demonstrated his latest research on developing AI-based surrogate models for particle-scale simulation, with the goal of enabling fast and reliable process prediction for future smart process control applications. His research aims to address the computational challenges of the Discrete Element Method (DEM) by developing physics-informed machine learning models to improve the efficiency and stability of long-horizon predictions.
The award recognizes the quality of both the research and its presentation, reflecting the clarity of communication, and the potential impact of this work on the development of smart process systems.
