Institutional performance framework

Integrated monitoring and evaluation of performance across the Monash Group in accordance with the strategic directions of the University.

The Institutional Performance Framework translates the goals and objectives articulated in the strategic plan Impact 2030 to a set of performance measures and targets that enable effective monitoring of strategic initiatives, core business and institutional sustainability across the Monash Group. It is closely aligned to the Institutional Planning Framework and is similarly hierarchical in nature with measures cascading across various pillars and levels within the University.

The Intelligence and Insights team is responsible for the management of the Institutional Performance Framework on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, including its development, continuous review, enhancement, and implementation. Intelligence and Insights also delivers, or supports the delivery of, regularly scheduled reporting against the Framework including the Implementation Plan Mid-Year Progress Report, the Offshore Entity Activity Reports, and Faculty Performance Reports.

Framework Structure

The Institutional Performance Framework and its associated measures are currently being revised to allow increased focus on performance against the five consolidated outcomes of the Impact 2030 Implementation Plan (for Monash staff only), while still addressing established core academic and operational areas. Three performance pillars within the Framework - defined as Strategic, Academic and Operational - therefore provide insight into both strategic and core business measures across the institution while also supporting different types of reporting including governance, executive and transactional.
