Paskalis' doctoral research aims to develop a culturally informed, intelligent social media framework that facilitates collaboration among local communities, traditional elders, government institutions, and younger generations to preserve indigenous culture—particularly in Sumba Island, East Nusa Tenggara. The framework will integrate participatory design, user-centred features, and AI-powered tools (e.g., content classification, recommendation systems) to address the decline in cultural awareness among Gen-Z.

He is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Computer Science, Widya Mandira Catholic University in Kupang, Indonesia and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics Engineering from Widya Mandira Catholic University and a Master’s degree from University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, both in Indonesia.

Since 2009, Paskalis has served as a full-time lecturer and was a former Head of the Data and Information Technology Centre at his university. He has led multiple digital development projects in collaboration with government agencies and organizations such as UNICEF, focusing on health information systems, GIS, academic platforms, and local digital transformation.

Paskalis' passion lies in using digital technologies to preserve local culture, and is committed to building the first digital cultural centre in East Nusa Tenggara in the next 7 years.
