Understanding Multidisciplinary Data-Intensive Software Teams
Data-intensive software, which combines data analytics and software is key to Australia’s economic future. These software systems are developed by multidisciplinary teams with expertise in data, software engineering and domain knowledge. These teams are different to traditional software development teams and we know relatively little about them. This research program conducted empirical studies with practitioners to explore multidisciplinary data-intensive software teams, their challenges, practices and use of develelopment tools. This PhD contributes a theory explaining the characteristics and challenges faced by such teams. It also identifies their work practices and features for data development software to better support their practices.
