Context Aware Fact Checking of Facebook Posts in Bangladesh

The project aims to conduct a rigorous study of Facebook posts to propose refinement to the fact checking algorithms based on demographics and socio-cultural context of Facebook users in Bangladesh by using persona tool. We propose an improved approach of labeling of the suspected posts to inform innocent people reading and spreading these.

We will develop number of personas to capture different demographics characteristics and socio-cultural context of Facebook users in Bangladesh. The personas will be used to implement improved fact checking of Facebook posts and efficient labeling of those based on the socio-cultural context.

This multi-level fact checking will reduce the queue of posts for full fact checking as well as will help stopping the spread of misinformation, fake news, rumours that can cause social unrest and violence. The improved labelling will take will be more efficient since those are generated taking the user demographics and socio-cultural context in to account.
