Development of persona from app reviews

A persona is a description of a fictional character who will use the software. Persona is usually developed from user research before commencing the development. However, conducting rigorous user research is often time and effort-consuming as well as expensive.  To address these challenges, we propose an innovative approach to understanding the end user of software from an alternative source of information –  application (app) reviews provided by the end users themselves. We analysed around 5000 e-commerce app reviews with GPT-3 and developed eight personas based on the analysis. Developers of existing e-commerce platforms will be benefited from gaining a better understanding of their end users without involving them directly as well as developers of new e-commerce platforms will be able to understand the diverse end users and their requirements.
