Using VR headset

The use of emerging technologies such as Virtual Reality VR, Augmented Reality AR and Artificial Intelligence AI has proliferated in recent times. This project seeks to understand the opportunities and challenges these emerging technologies present in education to build empathy for human needs and design more inclusive technology. The project aims to develop a human-centred framework and practical approaches to integrate these cutting-edge technologies into real-world educational settings for effective learning and teaching.

Project 1 Emerging technologies in higher education Systematic Literature Review to map the current state of art in the use of Artificial Intelligence AI, Extended Reality XR Technologies and Learning Analytics in higher education, with a focus on assessment and feedback.

Project 2 Virtual Reality VR Demos, interviews and design workshops to equip educational stakeholders with VR knowledge, co-design learning experiences with VR technologies and develop a practical framework to integrate VR in real-world classrooms.

Project 3 VR implementation in real-world educational settings. We are rolling out VR learning activities in Australian university courses to evaluate effectiveness of VR for student learning and gain insights into the facilitators and barriers of VR integration in classrooms.

The resulting VR integration in the education framework will guide and support decision making of educators, administrators and policy makers to effectively leverage VR technologies in real-world educational settings.
