Socio-political Readiness for AI and Big Data in Developing Countries
The expansion of AI and Big Data is one of the most discussed issues in the digital world, creating significant development opportunities. While many countries embrace those opportunities, there is evidence of overlooking the related socio-political challenges that AI and big data create. It is particularly valid for developing countries like Bangladesh with aggressive digital milestones without an enabling environment. Since other developing countries like India and Malaysia have been strengthening their related readiness, this research project aims to propose a framework for developing country business sectors with globally connected apparel industry in Bangladesh as a case study for exploration.
We have conducted 15 interviews with the stakeholders of the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) industry in Bangladesh and 15 Key Informant Interviews (KII) with experts. We have identified the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to AI incorporation to the RMG industry.
