The Internet of People: Modelling Humans for Software Applications

The software of today and the future involves intense interactions with humans, which developers must understand to ensure their solutions are fit-for-purpose. This project established methodological guidelines and recommended supporting technologies for applications involving human interaction.

We defined a general metamodel called ‘digital human twins’ (DHTs) to construct models of humans in these interactions, addressing the complexity and variability of their behaviour. We are also working on defining guidelines and supporting tools for generating and managing DHTs. In addition, we are exploring the potential of defining a portable industry standard for DHT profiles, which would allow the same profile to be used with different Internet platforms.

These profiles allow apps that support the standard to customise their human-machine interactions according to unique users.
