As a student of spatial design, I am interested in how the space of a building affects people's perception and how the different shapes can communicate cultural symbols.I have learnt techniques such as Rhino and Photoshop to help me realise my ideas. I have also been able to realise more interesting and expressive spaces through learning about Grasshopper parameterisation in the project workshops.

'Sea Urchin-Suitaloon Refuge'

This is an outdoor refuge based on a sea urchin. The design of the shelter is based on a world, in the future, after a major disaster has occurred. The shelter provides a temporary home for people, and at the same time works to protect the occupants in a post-apocalyptic panic environment. The prototype design was parametrically realised using Grasshopper to simulate a temporary shelter for homeless people in a resource-poor, post-apocalyptic environment, using simple plastic packaging that can be inflated. The Refuge, which allows the evacuees to unfold the spines of the Sphere shelter into the shape of a sea urchin, when they try to protect or disguise themselves in a crisis situation.
