Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

Hi, I’m Tayla Tatli- a Melbourne third year Design student studying within the Caufield campus of Monash University. I have a big passion for creativity, with infatuations with loud and bold colour and out-of-the-box thinking. My strong skills are identity design, mainly packaging and brand identity. I strive to create designs that are different from existing ideas- bringing in my own interests and personality into idea generation.

Branding For Designers Development

When starting to re-design ‘Visit Grampians’ I started off with developing various different logo designs to enhance the brands purpose, which was to increase visitation and promote exploration. However, I had many trouble with choosing type faces that suited the brands mission as well as the aesthetic.

Branding For Designers- Development

The first asset that I had started to develop was the Visit Grampians poster series. I had chosen specific images of different cites within the Grampians that attract tourists- creating that as subject matter and focal point for my posters so audiences immediately notice the beautiful cites of the Grampians. I was experimenting with shape and how to create simplicity as well as to achieve hierarchy within the posters. I had also developed a colour pallet within the posters that reflects the colours from sunset views to wildlife of the grampians to further enhance the identity.

Branding For Designers- Poster Application

From the early stages of documentation of idea generating seen above, I was able to refine the images into a poster series. Additionally, I developed a universal logo that matched within the brands needs and goals- as well as providing a consistent visual style and slogan that represents adventure.

CDS3002 Activation Application

For my activation project campaign, I had chosen to focus on obsessive compulsive disorder, as I have been diagnosed with it myself- exploring the results from my DRK. My DRK revealed that many individuals do not have a clear understanding of OCD, so on my early stages of creating applications- I created posters that mirror what it might be like to experience OCD.

With the development of the landing page, I wanted to start with the symptoms from the poster to show an intimidate link, to quickly debunk the myths that many average individuals hold about what it is like to experience OCD. The campaign being named ‘it’s complicated’ went through a multitude of development to enrapture the idea that OCD is vastly different from what other people perceive it as- gathered incorrectly from the media.

With the colours, typefaces and stylistic choices being determined within the posters, I was then able to develop my main application which was an informational website. The website includes information about OCD as well as a variety of resources on where to go if you yourself, or someone you know experiences these symptoms.
