For the Land (In)Equalities: Expanding City studio, my proposal for our subject site, Botanic Ridge outlines a strategic shift toward sustainable mobility in Botanic Ridge through a new multimodal transport hub that integrates bus services, bike hire, and secure bike storage. Supported by safer walking and cycling connections, the proposal encourages low-impact travel and reduces car dependency. By guiding movement to and from key destinations while preserving ecological corridors for species such as the Southern Brown Bandicoot, the strategy promotes both sustainable transport and biodiversity-sensitive outcomes.

Catalyst Project - Promoting Active Transport

This plan presents a new multimodal transport hub in Botanic Ridge that is designed to integrate walking, cycling, and public transport in one accessible location. The layout prioritises safe active travel routes, improved connections to community facilities, and preserving key ecological corridors for local endangered wildlife, such as the Southern Brown Bandicoot. The aim is to foster a healthier, more sustainable neighbourhood by improving people’s daily journeys and making it easier, safer, and more enjoyable to get around.

Proposed Cross-Section (1:100 Scale)

This cross-section illustrates the redesigned Bayport Avenue, integrating secure bike storage, bike-hire amenities, wider footpaths, and enhanced bus services fitted with bike racks. The upgraded streetscape is designed to strengthen active transport connections and encourage sustainable travel choices.
