CDS1002 Typography Fundamentals

I was tasked to choose a typeface and create a poster series based on Typography rules or terminology. I created this series around the word ‘Calm’, which I associated with the Monash Library. I used a more subtle blue to match the word and emotion evoked by the Library for me, mixed in with more complicated and engaging visuals to highlight how the Library can be more stressful and more complicated than just Calm.

CDS2001 Publication

The brief was to create a publication booklet surrounding an article written by Alice Rawsthorn. I chose to design mine around Paul Rand, where I drew inspiration based on his iconic work to create a concise and technical publication.

CDS2001 Publication

Drawing on his iconic designs for IBM, I created a publication spread which highlighted and portrayed his designs in an imaginative way. I utilised the iconic IBM logo alongside other graphics Paul Rand created for the company.

CDS2001 Publication

I drew inspiration on his iconic grave with its shape and texture. This particular spread was meant to add emphasis on his work and overall life, highlighting that even through death his designs and works are still very much relevant to the design industry.

CDS3002 Activation

The brief was about creating a meaningful campaign surrounding an issue, I chose to make mine about Mental Health and the difficulty in identifying issues. I made a bold yet simple campaign based around a character who sometimes has uneven colour in and out, creating a metaphor about how many do not feel complete or like themselves within their struggles.

CDS3002 Activation

I created a campaign with the use of media like a website and social media page, wanting to highlight how a campaign like this can be reached to many online. I chose various colours to help portray different emotions and portray a diverse and meaningful campaign.
