Volunteering opportunity at Thorne Harbour Health - STAFF ONLY

Event details

Date: 18 May 2026

Location:

You’re invited to join Monash HR’s Staff Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team for an empowering workplace volunteering day at Thorne Harbour Health in Abbotsford in celebration of IDAHOBIT.

Join us on Monday 18th of May to mark this occasion and take the opportunity to learn more about the LGBTIQA+ community. You’ll also contribute by assembling Red Ribbons for World AIDS Day, putting together safe sex packages, and creating other meaningful materials that support the community.

Our partner in this initiative, Thorne Harbour Health, is one of Australia's oldest and largest community health organisations responding to HIV and AIDS. In recent decades, it has broadened its services to deliver community-led and culturally appropriate services that improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQA+ people. These services include counselling, peer support, a transgender health clinic, STI testing, and much more.

You’ll receive an overview of best practices for allyship with LGBTIQA+ communities, along with general information on queer communities. You will also learn about Thorne Harbour Health’s history of advocacy and activism when it was known as the Victorian AIDS Council, as well as information on their key services
