Research data and the use of AI
Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents unparalleled opportunities to speed up knowledge creation in research as well as lowering cost of that creation.
These opportunities also present a number of risks that will differ based on how AI will be used, the type of data that will be used with the AI and the type of AI service or deployment that will be used.
To assist researchers in understanding the potential risks and provide suggestions for mitigation, a tool has been developed. Adapted from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) AI Risk Management Framework: Generative AI Profile (NIST AI 600-1), the tool focusses on the upstream and mid-stream risks researchers may face if using their risk data with AI models.

After answering a few short questions, the tool identifies potential risks and suggestions in how to mitigate these risks. You may then download (or have emailed to you) a PDF of these results.
