Who we are

The Monash Fragment Platform (MFP) is a purpose-built, collaborative fragment-based drug design (FBDD) facility housed within the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MIPS). The MFP engages with academic and commercial partners to provide knowledge and expertise in the fragment-based development of bio-actives for chemical biology and drug discovery.
The mission of the MFP is to facilitate the discovery of new bio-actives by providing fragment screening technologies and discovery-to-lead drug development expertise for academic and commercial researchers.

Our team is comprised of experienced staff with expertise spanning the discovery-to-lead pipeline including fragment screening, chemo-informatics, biochemistry, biophysics (NMR, SPR and ITC), medicinal and analytical chemistry, X-ray crystallography and molecular modelling.

The MFP is a TIA-supported facility. We assist researchers in preparing funding applications for the TIA’s Pipeline Accelerator scheme.

Internal Funding Opportunities for FBDD

BioCurate
The BioCurate Opportunity Assessment (BOA) program runs twice a year. Application opens at the beginning of March and September annually.

Therapeutic Program Areas
The MIPS TPA Discovery Accelerator Co-funding Program will support 50% of project costs, however, special consideration may be given to award a higher percentage up to a maximum of $40,000 per grant.
