Responding to unacceptable behaviour and conduct

At Monash, staff are encouraged to address disagreements, conflict and disputes collaboratively and with respect, empathy and professionalism. There are various options to resolve, disclose, seek advice, and formally report unacceptable conduct and behaviour.

All concerns regarding sexual harms, including sexual harassment, are managed in accordance with the Sexual Harm Response Procedure and should be directed to the Safer Community Unit.

The information below outlines the process for responding to all other forms of unacceptable conduct, as outlined in the Unacceptable Conduct Response Procedure. The resolution process emphasises open communication and understanding, and all parties are expected to cooperate in the resolution process.

Monash recognises that not all situations may allow for each stage to be attempted, especially in serious cases or where there is a power imbalance. Alternative processes may be followed based on the nature of the alleged behaviour.
