International Delegation from Korea Visits Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Hub to advance technology-facilitated gender-based violence research

In February the MGFVP Hub welcomed an international delegation from the Republic of Korea as an ongoing collaborative initiative, Responding to technology-facilitated gender-based violence, funded by the Australia-Korea Foundation (DFAT). This project  aims to build cross-cultural learning and advance a more inclusive and interconnected Indo-Pacific, one where gender equality and digital rights go hand in hand.

The visit was formally opened on 3 February 2026 at a special welcome event hosted by distinguished guests: Mr Jin-Kwan Oh, Consul-General of the Republic of Korea in Melbourne; Councillor Elisha Lee, Deputy Mayor of the City of Monash; and Professor Catherine Mills, Deputy Dean of Research in the Faculty of Arts. The event was followed by a series of workshops and site visits to key stakeholders across Australia.

The MGFVP Hub was honoured to receive delegates from a range of leading Korean organisations including the Korean Women’s Development Institute, Seoul Metropolitan Government, Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education, Korean National Police University, The Hankroeh News Corp, Seoul Foundation of Women and Family and the Seoul Institute.
