Hub Director Naomi Pfitzner presents at the UN Women Global Symposium

In June 2026, Hub Director Dr Naomi Pfitzner travelled to Seoul to speak at the 2026 Global Symposium: Transforming Gender Norms and Relationships — Engaging Men and Boys for Gender Equality.

This event was hosted by UN Women and the Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education.

The event was formally opened by distinguished guests: Sam-Hwa Kim, President, Korea Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education; Min-Kyong Won, Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Republic of Korea and Yun-Jeong Hwang, Director, UN Women Knowledge and Partnerships Centre.

Dr Naomi Pfitzner delivered the first session on "Shaping the Change: How Gender Norms Are Formed and Transformed" — a critical conversation on the transformative power of respectful relationships education.

This was followed by sessions from a range of experts including Melissa Alvarado, Regional Advisor on Ending Violence against Women, UN Women Asia and the Pacific Regional Office; Dean Peacock, Co-Founder of MenEngage Alliance, Visiting Fellow, Gender Centre at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies and Kyoung-Sook Lee, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family
