About us
Monash GPS advances innovative and transformative approaches to global peace and security challenges in an increasingly complex world. Through an intentionally feminist and interdisciplinary approach, we mobilise research to prevent and end conflict and to build and rebuild communities free from threat and insecurity.
We investigate transnational security challenges that intersect with conflict and peacebuilding, including the climate crisis, mass displacement, socio-economic inequalities, and technological developments such as artificial intelligence. Our commitment to feminist research principles centres the voices and experiences of those whose perspectives are often marginalised or overlooked. We advocate for inclusive approaches to peace and security, recognising that more inclusive processes can contribute to more equitable and sustainable peace. This includes advancing the Women, Peace and Security and Youth, Peace and Security agendas.
Our research informs scholarly debate, policy development and implementation, and public understanding of the complex nature of insecurity and the pursuit of peace. Working with international, government, industry and civil society partners, Monash GPS academics contribute through research and community engagement, academic publications, undergraduate and graduate teaching, executive education, and PhD supervision.
