Strategic Overview 2025

Monash GPS (Global Peace and Security) has launched its Strategic Overview 2025, setting an ambitious course for addressing the increasingly complex, interconnected, and dynamic challenges to global peace and security.

The Strategic Overview 2025 articulates Monash GPS’s renewed commitment to advancing innovative, interdisciplinary, and impact-oriented approaches to peace and security research. Informed by global developments, including the intersection of conflict with climate change, forced migration, digital disruption, and socio-economic inequalities, Monash GPS’s vision is firmly rooted in collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and regions.

Building on its growing global networks, the Centre’s strategy defines key priorities: conducting mission-oriented research, strengthening multidisciplinary collaborations, developing cutting-edge training for current and emerging practitioners, and promoting responsible, inclusive, and ethical research practice. Research at Monash GPS will continue to be guided by three thematic pillars: PeoplePlace, and Technology, with an unwavering focus on designing transformative solutions to end conflict and build sustainable peace.

The Strategic Overview 2025 also highlights Monash GPS’s commitment to creating a hub for researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and communities to come together to drive positive change. Recent initiatives, from advancing women’s participation in peace operations to fostering education projects for Afghan girls, demonstrate the Centre’s ethos of action-oriented scholarship. The Strategic Overview 2025 highlights some of the research projects underway by members, as well as profiles of the many scholars, practitioners and policy-makers who are members - across Monash, Australia and globally

Monash GPS invites scholars, students, policymakers, and practitioners working in areas that impact or are impacted by challenges to global peace and security to connect and collaborate with the centre.
