1. Read your course handbook
2. Download the course map
3. Nominate your major
4. Enrol into your first year units
Understanding the terminology
Within the Bachelor degree, units are broken down into three levels. Each unit is typically worth 6 credit points unless otherwise indicated on the unit handbook.
E.g. ATS1304
- The letters ATS indicates that it is an undergraduate Arts faculty unit.
- The first number ‘1’ indicates that it is a level one unit.
- The latter number ‘304’ is to differentiate this unit from other level one Arts units
First Year Enrolment
For single Bachelor of Arts students beginning at the start of the year, your recommended first-year enrolments should consist of the following:
- Two level one gateway units from your chosen major
- Two Arts elective units
- Four Free Elective units*
For students starting mid-year, you just need to enrol into semester two units only (4 units - including one gateway unit).
*Free electives are only required for students in Single degrees. They can consist of units from across Monash. You just need to make sure that you meet all enrolment conditions listed on the unit’s handbook.
Your recommended course progression pathway map for the year you commenced can be found on your handbook. If you have received prior credits for your study or just wish to get a personalised course map, you are welcome to seek course advice after you enrol into your units.
