Healthy & Thriving Societies

The Healthy & Thriving Societies research cluster is made up of anthropologists, sociologists, criminologists, behavioural social scientists, geographers, international relations specialists, and other researchers studying a wide range of topics. Recent projects include work on reproductive health, bioethics, medical innovation, digital health, antimicrobial resistance, body images, chronic disease and caregiving, infectious disease, ageing, health inequality, stigma, addictions, social inclusion, aged care, disability studies, vulnerable communities, social isolation, and wellbeing. We use a combination of research methods including ethnography, interviews, discourse analysis, surveys, experiments, and secondary analysis with various research designs. Our overall goal is to contribute to the development of fair, equitable, healthy and thriving communities and societies, in Australia and around the world.
