Institutions, Power & Coercion
The Institutions, Power, and Coercion cluster brings together researchers across disciplines including politics, international relations, criminology, anthropology, and sociology. Beyond the School of Social Sciences, we will also connect with disciplines such as law and social work. This cluster would bring together researchers interested in the coercive and non-coercive influence or effects of institutions and other structures of power in society. Politics and IR research tends to focus on power relations and institutional arrangements. A key focus of Criminology research at Monash involves assessing aspects of coercion or violence and elements of institutional arrangements within criminal justice agencies and their effects.
