Program Details

Target Audience: Undergraduate students who want to practise their conversational English and explore Australian culture.

Duration: Each workshop lasts one hour. You can attend workshops in any order.

Location: Clayton, Caulfield and Peninsula

Boost your conversational English and build confidence to connect and succeed.

Workshop 1: Everyday Aussie English: Speak with Confidence
Speak English confidently in everyday situations. Learn useful phrases, Aussie slang, and how to keep conversations flowing naturally at uni and beyond.

Workshop 2: English on Campus: Navigate Uni with Confidence
Gain confidence using the language of university life. This session helps you understand key Monash terms like census date, underloading, and DSS, and practice how to ask the right questions when you need support. You’ll also learn where to find the help you need, so you can navigate Uni life more independently and speak up with confidence.

Workshop 3: Aussie Culture in Conversation
Learn how Aussie culture shapes everyday talk and interactions—from humour and tone to personal space and casual chats. Build confidence in understanding what’s said (and what’s not) so you can join local conversations with ease.

Workshop 4: Belonging at Monash: Conversation & Connection
Share your story and learn how to connect with others on campus. Build your confidence in English while exploring how to settle into university life. Discover what’s on at Monash and where to find events, clubs, and social opportunities.

Workshop 5: Across Cultures: Intercultural Conversations
Explore cultural differences and similarities through fun conversations. Develop skills to communicate with empathy and understand diverse perspectives.

Workshop 6: Game On: Building Friendships with Fun English
Make friends, practise English, and build your network in a fun, relaxed setting with games, trivia, prizes, and snacks. Learn how to create social circles and build lasting friendships while laughing and connecting confidently.
