About

About us

Future Healthcare leverages Monash University’s deep sector expertise and research, using our interdisciplinary co-design process to understand and address the challenges of complex health ecosystems.

We are addressing health system challenges across 5 critical domains: workforce, consumers, cost, technology and environment, which together drive our Future Healthcare platform. We are currently co-designing new healthcare systems and technologies with partners including the World Health Organisation, Oxfam, Monash Health, Cabrini Health, Alfred Health, Micro X, Health Direct Australia, Victorian Department of Health and Turning Point.

Using interdisciplinary co-design Future Healthcare will deliver technology design and integration approaches; frameworks and tools to support workforces; consumer-led insights to drive commissioning of new models, systems, and spaces for care. As well as tangible approaches to drive future preparedness, and reduce costs and build resilience in health systems.

  • Consumers

Co-designing models, systems & spaces for care using evidence-based interdisciplinary methods and approaches.

  • Workforce

Engaging workforce to improve capacity, capability, & preparedness. Delivering frameworks and tools to support workforces.

  • Technology

Developing human-centred innovative solutions for socio-technical needs. Delivering technology design and integration approaches.

  • Environment

Designing for planetary health, sustainability & emissions reduction. Co-creating carbon neutral care plans and approaches to reducing waste.

  • Cost

Delivering efficiencies, operational cost optimisation, and improved ROI on infrastructures, systems and services.

Our approach

Our approach is underpinned by evidence based interdisciplinary co-design to coalesce stakeholder groups. Our 5 stages are:
  • 1 | Map

Map multiple perspectives to understand the evidence ecosystem and locate disconnection and friction points.

  • 2 | Analyse

Analyse using surveillance systems, registries and datasets to define current state and strategic points of improvement.

  • 3 | Design

Design new models, systems, and spaces for care, technologies, IT innovations and system integrations to bridge disconnections.

  • 4 | Evaluate

Evaluate using a macro-meso-micro approach, bringing together systems level learnings with lived experience insights.

  • 5 | Deliver

Deliver insights to inform commissioning, tender and design processes.

Our approach is using interdisciplinary co-design to improve consumer experience and demonstrate return on investment. By curating insights and system intelligence we can help drive planning, design and commissioning of current and emerging health infrastructures, systems and services.
