Living Lab
The EIH Living Lab is the hub’s incubator for interdisciplinary research in biodiversity and conservation. It is located in the Jock Marshall Reserve and is currently being established in collaboration between the Faculties of IT, Science, and Engineering.

The Living Lab serves as an on-campus site for the development and testing of new technologies and methods in ecological, environmental, and conservation research and allows researchers to work in a controlled real-world context.
Initial project areas comprise AI for animal and biodiversity monitoring, soil research, water research, and the study of insect-plant interactions. Additional areas will be incrementally rolled out in the future.
A Digital Twin of JMR is under construction to serve as a cyber-infrastructure to integrate all projects and to facilitate synergies between these.
But the EIH Living lab is not only about research: It also aims to strengthen the on-campus student experience by providing a place where students in relevant units can work with cutting edge technologies and a focal point for the BiOM student team.
