About the Campaign

HER Centre Australia is campaigning for specialist women’s mental health education, treatment and services to help fix the strain on Australia's mental health system and provide the most effective and proven treatments for women.

Currently in Australia, we lack sufficient funding, services, research, treatments and education of women's specific mental health needs. This has to change.

The problems

Women experience twice as much depression as men & four times as much anxiety

1 in 10 women experienced intimate partner violence during the pandemic

1 in 4 females in 2021 had a 12-month mental health disorder

The solutions

We need a gender-specific approach to women's mental health that uses new, clinical research, trials and effective treatments for women.

20+ specialist women’s mental health clinics

Based on our successful model of care around Australia using a hub and spoke model, staffed by GPs, Clinical Psychologists, and Consultant Psychiatrists.

Clinical trials of new treatments for women

Using our expertise, conducting multisite clinical trials where cutting edge treatments and interventions will be trialled.

Education of GPs, clinicians, psychiatrists and the general public ​

About the best ways to treat mental health conditions in women, which may include GPs being allowed to prescribe hormone therapy.
