Dr Nadia Doscaglia

Dr Nadia Boscaglia is a clinical psychologist with more than twenty years' experience at the intersection of women's hormones, mood and sexuality. Her interest began with honours research on body image in pregnancy and carried through her doctoral work on mood in women with gynaecological cancers. It now centres on perimenopause, and the psychiatric and sexual sequelae of this life phase.

Nadia has delivered training in perimenopausal mental health to medical practices and psychology clinics across Australia, and provides clinical supervision to the psychology team at the NSW Health Menopause Clinics. Struck by how rarely the options for low desire in midlife went beyond a testosterone script for post-menopausal women, she completed a year of intensive training in somatic sexology. Sexual wellbeing is now a core part of her clinical work and training.

As an accredited EMDR practitioner, Nadia also works with the trauma history that can shape both mood disorders and sexual difficulties, particularly in phases when sex hormones are in flux. Nadia works closely with GPs and psychiatrists, and is an advocate for multidisciplinary, evidence-based care that treats women's mental health symptoms with the seriousness they warrant.
