Professor Jayashri Kulkarni AM

Professor Jayashri Kulkarni AM is an internationally recognised psychiatrist, researcher and leader in women’s mental health. She is Head of the Department of Psychiatry at Monash University, Director of HER Centre Australia and Director of the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc).

For more than three decades, Professor Kulkarni has pioneered research into the influence of reproductive hormones on women’s mental health across the lifespan. Her work has advanced understanding of conditions associated with menstruation, pregnancy, the postpartum period, perimenopause and menopause, and has contributed to the development of innovative hormone-based approaches to treatment.

Professor Kulkarni is a passionate advocate for gender-informed mental healthcare and for ensuring that women’s biological, psychological and social experiences are properly recognised in clinical practice. At Mind HER Menopause, she will share contemporary insights into the complex relationship between menopause, hormones and mental health.
