Internship Program

MMIC Internship Program

Since its establishment in 2017, the MMIC Internship Program has been dedicated to producing job-ready candidates for Victoria's pharmaceutival industry and research sectors.

The Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) stands at the forefront of building a supply of highly skilled, industry-ready candidates for the workforce, with the MMIC Internship Program equipping participants with foundational technical and professional skills, whilst establishing an early professional network.

The internship program aims to provide an immersive experience where interns are integrated into the team and assigned a mentor, and actively contribute to industry-based research projects, adding to the innovative capabilities of the MMIC.

For many interns, their connection with the MMIC forms part of their first career network, not only with our team but with their intern peers and future industry leaders. The professional network generated through the program provides interns a strong foundation to leverage new opportunities, jobs, and connections that will provide them a competitive advantage relative to their peers.

Program Testimonials

Intern pres 1

The MMIC internship program has given me an excellent opportunity to develop relevant industry skills by placing me in an external real-world work environment. I was able to get hands-on with project-related lab work to both gain a foundational technical skill set and confidence in the lab, as well as soft skills such as effective communication, professionalism, teamwork and autonomy.

It also helped with understanding the demands and intricacies of full-time employment and the contrasts from student life, making the transition to employment a seamless process. At the end of my internship, I was immediately offered a full-time position, highlighting the impact of this program in making me job-ready."

My internship at MMIC have been an incredible experience that exceeded all my expectations. The mentorship was outstanding, providing the perfect balance of guidance and independence for the intern towards their project. This allowed me to develop lots of new skills and build my confidence in a lab setting. The workshops were also incredibly insightful whilst still remaining engaging and fun.

The work environment is something I have to especially commend. Everyone is genuinely supportive and welcoming at MMIC, and it is clear that the company values work-life balance. Laughter and friendly banter are a regular part of the office atmosphere, and there was never a day where I felt unwelcomed.

Without a doubt, I would highly recommend MMIC to anyone seeking a rewarding and enriching internship experience.

intern meeting

We have consistently participated in the MMIC internship program for several years. We are always drawn back to the program due to the very high calibre of students participating - their enthusiasm, initiative, and strong science background. We also find tapping into the fresh minds of new graduates provides a much-needed new perspective on our current
projects.

Since 2018, we have employed 4 of the students who worked with us through the MMIC internship program, all of whom are still with us, and make up the majority of the team! Their time with us in their internship ensured they were ready to hit the ground running once working with us, and immediately added value to our company and culture
