Monash University was proud to participate in the Bonn Climate Change Conference also known as the intersessional or SB58, which convened from 5-15 June. Government representatives from around the world met at the World Convention Centre in Bonn, Germany to prepare for the annual flagship global climate action summit COP28 to be held in Dubai in November 2023.
While decisions pertaining to climate change are made unanimously at the ‘Conference of Parties’ (COP), the discussions begin much earlier and the groundwork is laid at the inter-sessionals where agreements are made on the ambitious agenda for COP28 in November.
Over the course of two weeks some agreement was finally reached on the meeting's agenda, particulary on loss and damage and other issues.
Monash University helped lead a series of workshops at the conference and shared knowledge with key stakeholders in the climate change conversation.
