A number of health-related vocabularies and terminologies are available in health research, including:
- ICD-10: International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision is a WHO alphanumeric classification of diseases, signs, symptoms and procedures/ interventions. ICD-10 (AM) is the Australian adaption
- METEOR: Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) metadata standards registry for data in health and welfare-related data
- SNOMED CT: Systematized Nomenclature of Medical Clinical Terms is an international standard for clinical terminology. SNOMED CT-AU is the Australian adaption
- AMT: Australian Medicines Terminology is a subset of SNOMED CT-AU and is the Australian standard for identifying and naming of medicines in clinical systems
- MeSH: Medical Subject Headings is a thesaurus and hierarchically-organised vocabulary published by the National Library of Medicine (US) used for indexing and cataloguing health related information.
