Health Research Data Dictionaries
A Health Research Data Dictionary is a descriptive list of the name, the definition or expected meaning and the attributes / characteristics (often referred to as meta-data), of all data elements (the pieces of data that will be collected to inform the Research Question ) to be collected and analysed as part of health research.
The purpose of a Health Research Data Dictionary is to provide a common set of concepts and terminology for health research data users and those who play a role in collecting the data, managing the data, overseeing or using the output of the research. It is therefore clearly the role of the researcher(s) to prepare a data dictionary for their research.
