REDCap researcher-focussed data dictionary

REDCap is a secure, online research data collection tool created by Vanderbilt University that is used in over 7,000 institutions across 160 countries that Helix manages at Monash University.

Helix and the Clinical Outcomes Reporting and Research Program have released an external module for REDCap that allows you to:

  • create a data element name, definition, purpose and reference source that will be stored in REDCap
  • output an easy to read Word document, formatted for external stakeholders

This does not replace the current REDCap data dictionary nor the Codebook, but allows a researcher-oriented data dictionary to be stored and output from a project.

Custom Codebook external module in REDCap

To access this External Module, log into REDCap, go to External Modules on left-hand menu and "View Available Modules".  From this list you can find the Custom Codebook and documentation.
