Upon completing her PhD in Neuroscience (University Pierre and Marie Currie, France), Jihane Homman-Ludiye joined the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute (Monash University) in 2008, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Bourne Group. During her 13 years in the group, Jihane focused on the factors regulating proliferation and neuronal migration in the developing brain to elucidate the molecular programs underpinning the establishment of a functioning brain. In the course of her research, Jihane used a wide range of model organisms, including rodents, chickens and primates. She gained extensive knowledge in brain tissue preparation, labelling and imaging. Since joining MMI in 2022, Jihane has contributed her expertise in tissue imaging and image analysis to educate and support the platform’s users. She is particularly determined to promote the use of automated image analysis , developing tailored pipelines in Fiji, CellProfiler or Cellpose, to accelerate data processing but also limit bias and error.
