Sarah is a cancer cell biologist with specialties in the cytoskeleton, cell migration, metastasis and numerous microscopy techniques utilised for imaging these cellular processes.

After completing her PhD at The University of Sydney in 2009 she moved to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at The University of North Carolina from 2009 to 2012, completing post-doctoral research specialising in imaging of the cytoskeleton. During her time at UNC Sarah received specialist training from Olympus America and was accepted into the highly competetive Analytical and Quantitative Light Microscopy course at the Marine Biological Laboratories in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.

Sarah returned to Australia in 2012, pursuing research and teaching at Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Science from 2012 to 2016. Her research here focused on adrenergic regulation of cancer cell migration and metastasis, heavily utilising live cell and multiphoton microscopy techniques.

Sarah joined MMI-MHTP in 2016 as an Optical Microscopy Specialist and has been the Platform Manager at MMI-MHTP since 2018.

Sarah’s primary expertise include fluorescent sample preparation, brightfield and fluorescent widefield microscopy, confocal microscopy, 3D and live cell imaging, Multiphoton and intravital imaging and FIJI image analysis.
