What you will do
As a volunteer in the International Program, you will:
Attend a Classrooms Without Walls information session to learn about the program, the learners you’ll be teaching, and the support available to you.
Complete an online, self-paced training module designed by the Monash Virtual School, accessed via Moodle that introduces key skills needed for effective online teaching and communication.
This training covers:
principles of ethical and inclusive teaching
core pedagogical practices
how to support multilingual learners
teaching in crisis-affected settings
observing learning, assessing understanding and giving constructive feedback
connecting theory to practice through critical reflection
Teach a sequence of 7 online lessons to students whose education has been disrupted by conflict.
For MON2000, the Monash Virtual School counts 1 hour of teaching per lesson and 2 hours of planning per lesson. These allocations are used to calculate your volunteer hours for MON2000 and reflect the typical time commitment needed to prepare and deliver a high-quality learning experience.
Lessons can focus on academic concepts, practical skills, creative interests or simplified explanations of topics you are studying - anything that helps students learn and stay intellectually engaged.
