How do I find a volunteer experience?

This unit allows you to pick a volunteering activity that aligns with your personal values and interests. Choose from one of the eligible opportunities listed on the Volunteering Opportunities page.  Volunteering opportunities not listed on the page cannot be used towards the unit.

Are all of the volunteering activities on the Volunteering Opportunities page eligible to count towards MON2000?

All volunteering is valuable, however, not all volunteering opportunities meet the requirements of the elective unit. Make sure you select an opportunity that specifically states it can count towards Volunteering in Practice (MON2000).

The activities that don't meet the unit requirements are still fantastic opportunities to learn new skills and to help others, so we highly recommend you get involved in these in an extra-curricular capacity.

Who are the Community Partners listed on the website?

Community Partners are verified organisations that we've connected with that are making a genuine difference in the local communities around our campuses!

They are all registered not-for-profit and charitable organisations that are keen to have Monash students contribute to their important work.

The assessment structure for Volunteering in Practice (MON2000) is as follows:

  1. Pre-volunteering reflection (500 words)
  2. Practice journal x 4 posts (300 words each)
  3. Impact presentation (1500 word research paper and 4-5 minute video)

Note:

  • All assessments are Pass Grade Only (PGO). For more information on pass grades and their contribution to WAM, read here.
