"It was great to be able to give our time to do something that has such a tangible effect - just the visual of how much we packed was amazing! It's great that Monash supports these activities and that we are part of an organisation that supports the wider Monash community." - (staff volunteer)
"My highlights were being able to see the positive effects of my volunteering experience on others. Seeing a smile on those who I had helped was really rewarding. Also just meeting new people.
Volunteering is so much fun and you are helping a community. My placement didn't even feel like I was working because I enjoyed it so much."

BlazeAid is an student-led organisation that helps individuals after natural disasters. In 2022, they focused on rebuilding fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed by the recent floods.
"I wanted to volunteer as a Monash Peer Mentor for I find university to be isolating at times, and wanted to make university less isolating for the new art students starting their undergraduate journey at Monash university. I volunteer my time as I feel that it is important to make a positive impact, whether that be on the environment, local community, or in my case, on the lives and university experience of my mentees.
It was rewarding to see them develop and grow within the span of 12 weeks. For this reason, seeing my mentees settle into university life within our final meeting was a memorable moment for me, and the highlight of my volunteering experience.
I have learned so much and experienced so much joy during this volunteering experience....volunteering as a peer mentor was such a joy as I was able to get to know all of my mentees and help them on their educational journeys. It was great to hear all about their lives, dreams, aspirations and courses."
