Future of the Faculty

When breakthroughs need to be made and solutions have to be developed, the engineering world looks to us - not the other way around

Just in the last 12 months, Monash Engineers produced research that transforms.

• Created the fastest internet ever: 44.2 Terabits per second from a single light source;
• Create protective equipment, like masks and gowns, out local materials - critically important when global supply chains are interrupted;
• Created a test to identify COVID-19 in a blood sample in just 20 minutes;
• Identified how much plastic waste is on the ocean floor;
• Predicted how public transit will respond as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

As we look to the future, engineers will be pivotal in designing and creating a more socially inclusive and equitable future. No matter what type of Engineer you are - no matter if you are moving people about on freeways or moving nanoparticles about in people - your education here has equipped you to benefit your community.
