Nowadays, the development of our society has become heavily dependent on the consumption of fossil fuels as the main energy source. Additionally, many industrial processes and human activities have caused severe damages to the environment. The STEEL led by Dr. Zhikao Li is aiming to improve resource efficiency and achieve better environmental outcomes through the advancement of knowledge and the development of technologies. We leverage membrane technology, adsorption technology, and solar-thermo technology to gain fundamental knowledge and develop practical applications in water treatment and gas processing. At the same time, we aim to train experts specialized in energy and environment technologies and to become a platform for global experts to share skills, knowledge, and visions.

Passionate professionals and students from a wide range of disciplines are more than welcome to contact us. We are always looking for collaborations and for higher degree students (Ph.D and Master by research) to join the lab.

Scholarships

Monash Graduate Scholarships: Four rounds of application for each year, consisting of 2 rounds for domestic students (Australia) and 2 rounds for international students (deadlines on the 31st March and 31st August each year).

Monash Suzhou Scholarships: You will need to commence your PhD at Monash Australia for the first 12 months, after which you will relocate to Monash Suzhou for the remainder of your enrolment. The scholarship will cover full tuition fee sponsorship of up to a maximum of four (4) years as well as living allowance (stipend). While studying in Australia the RTP Scholarship rate will apply for a maximum duration of 12 months (AUD $27,872 - 2019 rate per annum). While studying at Monash Suzhou (Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China.), the rate will be based on the rate of the current year (AUD$13,500 - 2019 rate per annum).

Monash-China Scholarship Council (CSC) joint scholarship: Together with the China Scholarship Council, we have established a collaborative scholarship program to attract high-quality Chinese students who wish to undertake a PhD study with Monash Univeersity.
